Sailor
Moon (Season 1) |
| The reason any of the songs where changed in the first season was obviously because DiC wanted to leave no trace of Japanese references. This was because the company wanted everyone to think that this was just another American animated series. The original songs were either replaced with a new song, completely removed from the episode without replacing it with a new one or even adding a song when there wasn't an original. |

Moonlight Densetsu
「ムーンライト伝説 Mūnraito Densetsu」 E: Sailor Moon Theme T: The "Moonlight Densetsu" song which was used as the opening theme for Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon, was replaced with a an English remake titled the "Sailor Moon Theme". A similar melody was used by DiC, but the computerized instruments were used to jazz it up, and also the words were changed to be about the main character, instead of being about a "Miracle Romance". |

Maboroshi no Ginzuisho
「幻の銀水晶 Maboroshi no Ginzuishō」 E: My Only Love T: Phantom Silver Crystal was replaced by this beautiful dub song, which in my own opinion is much better because it really created the mood well. |

Moonlight Densetsu
「ムーンライト伝説 Mūnraito
Densetsu」 E: Carry On T: Instead of DiC making an extended version of their Sailor Moon Theme, they decided to make a brand new song that they thought would suit the battle scene better. The Japanese original version just used the FULL version of Moonlight Densetsu during the battle against Queen Beryl, making the battle last as long as the song was. Since DiC edited the battle scene heavily, they also needed a shorter song. |

You're Just My Love E: It's A New Day T: The original "You're Just My Love" was replaced by yet another of DiC's song creations. This song was written for obvious reasons and I think helps to keep the sense of starting fresh (which was what DiC was looking for). The whole idea of them being reborn, or that the previous day wasn't important because it's the start of a new life. DiC did a good job with this song. The original song worked just as well, because it was all about Usagi seeing Mamoru again but not knowing that they are destined to be together. |

Heart Moving E: Sailor Moon Theme (Reprise) T: No Japanese songs were going to be left in the series so this song was replaced with a shortened version of the English dubbed Sailor Moon Theme. |

Princess Moon
「プリンセス・ムーン Purinsesu Mūn」 E: Sailor Moon Theme (Reprise) T: As above with Heart Moving, DiC only used one theme for their closing credits during the first season. |
