Episode: J: #002 E: #--- Episode Title: J: I'll Punish Them! The Fortune-telling House is a Yōma's Mansion 「おしおきよ! 占いハウスは妖魔の館 Oshiokiyo! Uranai House wa Yōma no Yakata」 E: -- Theory: Unlike episodes later on, the reason for this episode's deletion from the English adaptation was slightly more obvious. The symbol of the Devil was shown a lot throughout the episode, and possessed students from Juuban Junior High School (Umino and the other boys) throw stones at the windows at school, and also lifting Haruna Sakurada's dress (revealing her smiley-faced underwear). The disrespect shown towards the teachers in this episode and Umino forcing himself upon Usagi for a kiss could also be a very big reason why it was never dubbed. Apart from the few demonic and cult references, and the indecent behavior and exposure... This episode had some cute scenes, such as; Usagi not remembering her transformation phrase. I think DiC got a bit over paranoid about the overall episode in general and it would have been easier to just cut the small scenes out. |

Shanēra wa Ai wo Nusumu」 E: -- Theory: This episode was completely removed just like episode 2 of the original Japanese series. There was probably too much violence in this one that they cared to remove; Luna being kicked by a possessed Shingo, Haruna being pushed into desks by a student, Usagi slapping Shingo across the face and then herself being pushed into the wall. This was the first episode of the Japanese version that we meet Shingo's school friend Mika, who now won't make her first appearance in the English adaptation till episode 15. |

Usagi wa Cupid」 E: -- Theory: This episode really wasn't too bad compared to previous episode that were removed. The only instances I could think of that would be the reason for this one to be cut out would be that Usagi turns into an adult to get into a club, she just gets into a car with a stranger (even though he is a famous person - this would probably give children the wrong message, and remember this is supposed to be not only entertaining, but educational), also there is a scene when Yūsuke Amade is driving like a complete psycho, and I guess we don't want kids driving dangerously when they're older... One more thing... the Yoma in this episode threatens Akiko with her razor sharp claws, very scary stuff! |
