The Wiseman started out as an advisor to the members of Prince Diamond's Negamoon Family, but it was later discovered by Sapphire that the Wiseman was not who he says he was. He turned out to be an all powerful being known as the Doom Phantom, who wished to bring destruction to the whole universe - thriving on the nothingness and darkness, he tricked the Negamoon Family into believing that the people from Earth were evil, just so he could get his hands on the Silver Crystal - to have both ultimate powers in the universe (the Dark Crystal and the Silver Crystal).
